What is a Water Level Management Plan? | 26 September 2011

Water Level Management Plans were first suggested for water-based Sites of Special Scientific Interest in 1991. Over time, the focus has changed to European sites (Natura 2000) and the duty to implement these has been placed on the Operating Authority. In most cases this was the Environment Agency or Natural England, however, a substantial number of WLMPs are required to be implemented by Internal Drainage Boards as part of the government's Public Service Agreement (PSA) targets.
